Architecture, districts and objects of a city that works

The tallest building in the city

NOVA headquarters

A stepped tower of bluish glass with vertical ribs and a narrow high crown. No neighbouring building competes with it. The mark and the wordmark are built into the glass and surface as a soft glow from inside it — no protruding sign, no halo.

LOC01
The institute of social development

NISD: main entrance

A pale stone central plane carrying the large NISD lettering, flanked by tall blue glass facades with vertical divisions. Broad steps and an open plaza in front.

LOC02
Rented housing

Mark’s room

A small living space: a bed against the wall, a desk by a large window, the city beyond it. Densely packed shelves, plants, posters, a pizza box and an OkBook laptop. The mess of a lived-in place, not an abandoned one.

LOC03
The block where Mark lives

Corridor and stairwell

A long bright corridor, warm walls, doors with dark number plates, exposed services under the ceiling, a window at the far end. Ordinary domestic architecture of the future, uncomfortably like the present.

LOC04
Where people do the work

Human Made: facade

A glass facade with pale structural bands and green terraces. The two-line serif HUMAN MADE wordmark sits on the front, alongside the copper calligraphic HM monogram.

LOC06
Where necessity is handed back

Needed+: the programme space

Seats with high side partitions, numbered capsules, a dark panel bearing the name, VR headsets. Clean, quiet, considerate — a room designed to make a person feel they are at work.

LOC07
A monumental landmark

NIT: out-of-town campus

A large technology campus outside the main city: a spacious site, a monumental main building, flags and engraved plates. Nine years of an entire generation’s life happen here.

LOC09
A city that works

The city boulevard

Bright wide streets with trees, mid-rise residential frontage near the ground and tall glass towers behind, a clean blue sky. No eternal rain, no neon: the catastrophe is that everything looks lovely.

LOC05
Ordinary districts

Residential district

Mid-rise blocks, shared green courtyards, local shops and everyday transport. Black outlines, hatching, warm daylight and cold shadows.

CITY01
Two levels of one city

The overpass

A multi-level road: a bright stream of vehicles above, a strip of shadow beneath. Concrete piers, railings, deep perspective. The distance between the levels is not measured in metres.

LOC08
The dark side

The ghetto

People survive here, and the city’s technological comfort does not reach them. Poverty is shown through living conditions and daily effort, not through decorative decay.

LOC10
Industrial centres

E-DEN: compute centre

A compute complex, cooling plant, service roads and logistics. The industrial underside of a clean city: this is where the thing that makes it autonomous actually lives.

CITY02
OkWatch · OkEyes · OkBeats · OkBook

Personal devices

A rectangular black watch face with rounded corners and a thick case, prescription glasses, large headphones, a laptop. The objects people talk to systems through — and that keep running out of battery.

PR01
Body, cabin, door and sensor

ENTA shuttle

A compact white high-roof van: a large dark glazed cabin, a rounded nose, thin cold lights, a roof sensor module, a sliding side door. A bright interior where Volna radio is always playing.

PR02
Compute system

E-DEN F500

Racks fully immersed in coolant inside industrial tanks. The fluid line, the bubbles, the service connectors and the generation markings are all visible.

PR03
Bags, wear, small things

Everyday props

The olive shoulder bag belongs to the original look; the black backpack with the red strap belongs to the commute to NOVA. Cintra’s orange ball, the tag on her collar, dents and scuffs. A world is recognised by the small things that repeat.
